The Tree of Invincibility 2023 on Sofia Square in Kyiv This year's tree is smaller than usual, only 12 meters instead of 31 meters. It was decorated with nearly 1,000 yellow and blue ornaments from previous years, white doves, and an image of the Archangel Michael, the defender of Kyiv. The tree also features the flags of the countries that are helping Kyiv to deal with the challenges and consequences of russia's war against Ukraine. Also, the Christmas tree was decorated with energy-saving garlands that will be powered by a generator every day from 17:00 to 21:00. It should be noted that the city didn't spend budget funds on this. The tree was installed and decorated solely at the expense of patrons and businesses. The generator was provided by donors. This year's celebrations are also different. No mass entertainment events, food courts, fairs, or rides will be held on Sophia Square this year to comply with security measures under martial law. No Christmas fairs will be held in Kyiv this year.
